OpenAI has introduced Workspace Agents in ChatGPT. The function can be accessed seamlessly; all it requires is a click on the ChatGPT sidebar. OpenAI is targeting users from diverse backgrounds, such as business, enterprise, and education. If one were to summarize the utility of Workspace Agents, it could be described simply as an effort to streamline workflows.

Workspace Agents can be created to handle complex tasks that require long hours to perform. Once set up, they can operate without human intervention; however, frequent monitoring may still be necessary.
OpenAI’s Internal Use of Workspace Agents
OpenAI has clarified that the company itself is making the most of Workspace Agents. The goal may be to strengthen the confidence of potential clients, but the company has nonetheless succeeded in demonstrating the core utilities of these AI agents.
The Sam Altman-led company has implemented Workspace Agents as software reviewers and product feedback routers. These roles entail reviewing software requests and monitoring support channels, respectively, among other tasks.
Powered by Codex, these agents assist as weekly metrics reporters, lead outreach agents, and third-party risk managers. Team members can pull data weekly to review performance. Workspace Agents further take on the job of drafting personalized follow-up emails and researching inbound leads.
The role of a third-party risk manager includes researching vendors, monitoring financial health, and producing structured reports. The departments that have already begun using the tool include marketing, finance, and sales.
Workspace Agents are available for eligible users to build. OpenAI is offering assistance via the OpenAI Academy and Help Center for smoother execution.
ChatGPT Users Take Their Shots
Agents, according to OpenAI, don’t just respond to prompts. They undertake critical responsibilities, including - but not limited to - writing code and using apps connected by the organization. Teams can create and share agents to follow up on leads, recommend approved tools, and create production-ready web pages.
Their integration extends to Slack and other similar tools for broader accessibility, with the common purpose of turning knowledge into a reusable workflow.
Users do not lose control after creating an agent; they can choose to approve actions and decide which tools the agent uses.
Pricing for OpenAI Workspace Agents
OpenAI has not made its pricing public. The company has clarified that it will commence credit-based pricing on May 6, 2026. This is also the final date for free availability. ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, and Teachers plans can access the feature during the research preview.
