The Indian electric scooter market has a size of approximately $681.3 million in 2024 according to PS Market Research. It is projected to surge to $1,128.9 million in 2025, and touch $14,487.5 million by 2030. A growth rate of 66.4% has been stated in the report. It demonstrates a near-instant transition in the preference of consumers when buying a two-wheeler scooter.

The market of electric scooters is dominated by players like Ola, Ather, and TVS, among others. Honda Scooters & Motorcycles is now on a path to becoming a key player in the segment.

Honda Electric Scooters: Activa e

The two variants of Honda electric Activa e are Standard and Sync Duo. Their range is stated to be 102 km on a single 100% charge depending on the mode and speed. Both of them will offer three modes, namely Econ, Standard, and Sport. Speed will go as high as 80 kmph, and would be determined based on the mode at which Activa e variants are being ridden. Their frame type would be under bone, supporting a max torque of 22 Nm.

Tubeless tires, front 160 mm disc brakes, and rear 130 mm drum brakes are three more common features between Standard and Sync Duo. Each Lithium-ion battery will be 1.5 kWh with a maximum capacity to accommodate two swappable batteries. Headlights, Taillights, and indicators will be LED.

Activa Sync Duo and Activa Standard will enable access via smart keys; however, they will be different when it comes to sending maintenance alerts, enabling navigation, and offering live tracking. Sync Duo will be loaded with these features. Customers with Standard variant will miss out on these features.

Bookings of Honda Activa e Standard and Honda Activa Sync Duo will tentatively commence from January 01, 2025. Deliveries will begin sometime in February 2025. Download e-brochure of Honda Activa e.

Honda Electric Scooters: Activa QC1

Honda Activa QC1 is expected to be a smoother ride considering it is only coming with a single variant of the same name. It also aims to strengthen the mission of Honda Scooters & Motorcycles of moving towards a sustainable future just like Honda e. The fixed 1.5 kWh battery of QC1 will utilize BP Cell Chemistry to offer the benefit of high energy density along with an extended life cycle.

Unlike Activa e which features 3 riding modes, QC1 comes equipped with only two riding modes - Standard and Economy. Most of the details or information pieces will be shown on a 5” LCD digital display. Another aspect is an integrated 40W USB-C port which would facilitate on-the-move charging of mobile devices. Under-seat storage is 26L to allow customers to keep their helmets and other essential items.

Honda Activa QC1 has a maximum torque of 77 Nm and a maximum speed of 50 kmph. A single 100% charge would take it to a distance of 80 km. Front and rear have drum brakes of 130 mm and 110 mm, respectively. The BLDC motor fuels a maximum power of 1.8 kW. It could take around 6 hours 50 minutes for 0-100% charge. Vehicle, charger, and battery warranties will be offered for 3 years or 50,000 km, whichever comes first.
