Ola Electric Brings Out S1 Z, and Gig, Delivering Soon!
Ola Electric presented two models of its EV scooters, namely Ola S1 Z and Ola Gig. In fact, Bhavish Aggarwal, the Chief Executive Officer of Ola, himself published about them on X. He underlined that the objective was to make electric vehicles accessible to every Indian at an economical price.
Aggarwal, in another post, said that the idea was to support the rising Gig economy which is projected to grow by more than 2 times in the next couple of years - thereby, taking it to more than 10 million workers in the industry.
S1 Z By Ola Electric
To start with, Ola Electric has presented images and details about the S1 Z model. It will come in two variants - S1 Z and S1 Z+. The basic features of both Ola electric scooters are the same. A point of distinction is in terms of their accessories.
Ola S1 Z and Ola S1 Z+ will have a single portable battery that can be extended to a pair of portable batteries. Their battery capacity is stated to be 1.5 kWh which would be multiplied by 2 if customers choose to add a second battery to their electric scooter. The top speed is 70 kmph with a certified range of 75-146 km when it is at 100% charged capacity.
Ola has not mentioned charging time but the company has said that it would take less time to charge so that customers can ride it for a longer time. The tires would have a better grip for a stable ride on 14” dimension. Both - S1 Z and S1 Z+ - will be controlled by the Ola Electric App while the scooter itself will display all the information to riders on an LCD screen.

Ola S1 Z can be reserved for ₹499/-. Its starting price is ₹59,999/-. Ola S1 Z+ can also be reserved for ₹499/- but its starting price is a little higher, ₹64,999/-. The price will move up if customers opt for another portable battery or additional accessories for their Ola electric scooters. Deliveries are scheduled to commence from May 2025, tentatively.
According to estimates provided by the EV company, Ola S1 Z will help save 92.8% of the fuel costs every day.
Gig by Ola Electric
Another EV that Bhavish Aggarwal mentioned on his X profile was Ola Gig. This Ola electric scooter is comparatively more economical in terms of price. It will have two variants with a key distinction in terms of their looks and number of portable batteries. Two variants of Ola Gig are Ola Gig and Ola Gig+.
Ola Gig will have a battery capacity of 1.5 kWh with a certified range of 112 km. Holding it back could be the top speed of only 25 kmph on a motor power of 250 W. Ola Gig will only have a single portable battery with no option to extend the capacity. That is something that Ola Gig+ will offer.
Ola Gig+ will have the capacity to allow customers to add another portable battery to extend the battery capacity by 2 times. Its certified range is stated as 81-157 km with a top speed of 45 kmph.

Both of them could have a few more things in common apart from the brand name. Their 12” tyres would offer a grip strong enough to not let the rider slip. The design has been crafted to be robust, making sure that it is strong enough for rough roads with an integrated LED lamp for safety purposes. Access to the electric scooter will be through the Ola Electric App. Customers will be able to quickly charge their EVs and take them for a longer ride.
Ola Gig can be reserved for ₹499/-. Its starting price is estimated to be ₹39,999/-. Ola Gig+ can be reserved for ₹499/-. Its starting price would be ₹49,999/-. The model will begin deliveries in April 2025, tentatively. They will help save 93.4% of the fuel cost every day, according to estimates provided by Ola on their website.
