:::The number of Corona Cases across India were as follows:

Confirmed - 3,36,78,786

:::Disney filed a lawsuit under Marvel Entertainment to retain five characters namely Black Widow, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange. Disney filed the lawsuit in response to several copyright termination notices that were served to the company at the beginning of 2021. The termination notice quoted the US Copyright law which allows the original authors or their heirs to reclaim the rights over the characters.

Disney filed a lawsuit under Marvel Entertainment to retain five characters namely Black Widow, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange.

Disney, in response to the termination notice, sued all the writers and artists.


:::With 64.1% votes in favor, Switzerland legalized same-sex marriage and the right to adopt a child by a same-sex married couple. Same-sex marriage was legalized amid facing strong opposition from some Christian congregations and the right-wing Swiss People's Party (SVP). Even though legalized, it could take a few years to officially implement the law due to Switzerland's administrative and legislative procedures.

With 64.1% votes in favor, Switzerland legalized same-sex marriage and the right to adopt a child by a same-sex married couple.

:::The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) published a report stating that the number of murders rose by 29.4% in 2020, with the number standing at 21,500. This is the highest increase in the criminal cases of the United States of America since 1960. Out of 21,500 cases, 77% were reportedly committed with firearms. Out of all the American states, the Southern State of Louisiana witnessed the highest rate of murders.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) published a report stating that the number of murders rose by 29.4% in 2020, with the number standing at 21,500.

The report also highlighted that violent crimes rose by 5.6% and assaults increased by 12% in 2020. The only category that witnessed the decreasing trend was property crimes, with the number going down by 7.8%.


:::The bench of Justices S K Kaul and M M Sundresh at the Supreme Court issued a statement saying that it was not an educational institution's fundamental right to receive aid. The bench of justices added that an educational institution should not accept the grant of aid on its terms. The hearing concluded with the statement that if educational institutions did not want to accept this condition then they were at liberty to decline the grant.

The hearing was from the side of the Government of Uttar Pradesh challenging the verdict of Allahabad High Court, where it was concluded that Regulation 101 framed under The Intermediate Education Act, 1921, was unconstitutional.

:::According to a statement issued by Kamal Saksena, the Director-General (Vigilance) of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), the state is on its way to achieving the target of zero charge-sheet in the cases related to the theft of power. The special police force that was formed to keep an eye on the cases of power theft caught the culprits and convinced them to either compound or settle the matter on the spot to get acquitted. This helped the police to close 99.7% of the cases.

According to a statement issued by Kamal Saksena, the Director-General (Vigilance) of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), the state is on its way to achieving the target of zero charge-sheet in the cases related to the theft of power.

UPPCL has started receiving greater revenue since the time there has been a significant drop in the cases of power theft in Uttar Pradesh.


:::The Wall Street Journal cited the internal presentation of Facebook from 2020 where the social media giant was observed claiming the children aged between 8-12 years as an "untapped audience". The presentation titled, "Tween Competitive Audit", highlighted that Facebook was losing to its competitors like Snapchat and TikTok and there was a decreasing trend of 19% in the number of teens using Facebook over the past two years.

The Wall Street Journal cited the internal presentation of Facebook from 2020 where the social media giant was observed claiming the children aged between 8-12 years as an "untapped audience".

Facebook now draws extra criticism as it earlier tried to leverage playdates to lure children into using Facebook Messenger.

:::PumPumPum, a Gurugram-based used car startup, raised an undisclosed amount from LC Nueva AIF. The funds will be utilized in spreading brand awareness in the market, developing the technology, and expanding the operations of the startup in 15 cities of India. PumPumPum was founded by Tarun Lawadia and Sameer Kalra in 2018. The startup provides IoT-enabled pre-owned cars to subscribers for short to long-term use.

PumPumPum, a Gurugram-based used car startup, raised an undisclosed amount from LC Nueva AIF.

PumPumPum had earlier raised ₹5.5 crores.


:::Sanjay Bhargava, the Country Director for India of Starlink, has been appointed to lead the satellite internet service of SpaceX in India. The announcement was made by Sanjay Bhargava on LinkedIn, where he also shared that he has previously worked with Elon Musk on the founding team of PayPal. He said that he shared a common passion with the company of supporting a transformed India, starting from its rural regions.

Sanjay Bhargava is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, from where he pursued a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to complete his master's in business from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

:::SK Broadband, an internet firm based in South Korea, sued Netflix for using its network to deliver the content. The internet firm wants Netflix to pay a usage fee of approximately $22.9 million for the previous year. SK Broadband mentioned that Amazon, Apple, and Facebook were the only companies to pay the usage fee, in complete contrast to Netflix and YouTube.

SK Broadband, an internet firm based in South Korea, sued Netflix for using its network to deliver the content.

Netflix responded by saying that it would review the claim made by the internet firm, initiate a dialogue, and explore ways to resolve the issue.


:::Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, launched SBM-U 2.0 and AMRUT 2.0. SBM-U 2.0 stands for Swachh Bharat Mission - Urban 2.0. It aims to make all the major Indian cities free from garbage. An estimated fund of ₹1.41 lakh crore has been allocated for this initiative.

AMRUT 2.0 stands for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0. It aims to offer 100% coverage of water supply in 4,700 urban local bodies.
