:::Unacademy, a Bengaluru-based ed-tech start-up, raised $440 million in its Series-H funding round that was led by Temasek. The funding round witnessed the participation of SoftBank, Vision Fund, General Atlantic, Tiger Global, Deepinder Goyal, Ritesh Agarwal, and Mirae Assel.

:::Anurag Thakur, a Union Minister of India, informed the Parliament that licenses of 204 private television channels were revoked by the Central Government. The action was taken in a period from 2016 to 2020. These private channels had reportedly violated the guidelines issued by the Central Government.

:::Crimeophobia, a Criminology Firm, alleged that Byju's had wrongly stated in its UPSC curriculum that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was a nodal agency for the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). Following this allegation, the Mumbai Police booked Byju Raveendran, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Byju's. Byju's said in its defense that the study material was factually correct and backed by an official communication from 2012. Crimeophobia put a counterargument by mentioning a statement by the CBI that said that it was not a nodal agency of UNTOC.

The FIR was registered at the Aarey Colony Police Station under Section 120 (B) for criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code and Section 69 (A) of the Information Technology Act.

:::A monthly salary hike of ₹18,000/- was approved by the Delhi Cabinet based on the proposal that it received from the Central Government. The monthly salary of Delhi MLAs now stands at ₹30,000/- per month. The allowances have also been hiked by ₹18,000/- per month. The previous monthly salary structure included a basic pay of ₹12,000/- and an allowance of ₹42,000/-. The revised monthly salary structure includes a basic pay of ₹30,000/- and an allowance of ₹60,000/-.

A monthly salary hike of ₹18,000/- was approved by the Delhi Cabinet based on the proposal that it received from the Central Government.

:::Nahid Taghavi, a human rights advocate in Iran, was sentenced to prison for 10 years & 8 months for allegedly participating in the management of an illegal group and propaganda activities against the regime. She was arrested from her Tehran apartment in October 2020.

The prison sentence of the 66 years young German Iranian woman was confirmed by Mariam Claren, her daughter, on Twitter. Her allegations were reported by HRANA News Agency.

:::According to data released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the incidents of stone-pelting in Jammu & Kashmir fell by 88% during January 2021 and July 2021 as compared to the same period of 2019. The number of stone-pelting cases that were reported in 2019 was 618. The number in 2020 was 222 and in 2021 is at 76 for the said period.

According to data released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the incidents of stone-pelting in Jammu & Kashmir fell by 88% during January 2021 and July 2021 as compared to the same period of 2019.

A drop in the injuries to security forces and civilians was also reported by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In 2019, 64 security personnel were injured and 10 security personnel have been injured in 2021. Around 339 civilians were injured in 2019 while 25 civilians have been injured in 2021 for the period that has been mentioned above.

:::According to Forbes, Jeff Bezos, the Founder of Amazon.com, lost his first position in the list of the World's Richest person to Bernard Arnault. Bernard Arnault is the chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. He is now valued at $198.4 billion while Jeff Bezos is valued at $193.4 billion.

Jeff Bezos is followed by Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg with a net worth of $179.4 billion, $131.6 billion, and 128.2 billion respectively.

:::Police in Bangladesh recovered a 1,000 years-old stone statue of Lord Krishna. The stone statue has reportedly been recovered from Abu Yusuf, a teacher who resides in Boro Goalie Village. He found the statue while digging soil for a pond.

:::The Security & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) refunded ₹129 crores to the investors of two Sahara companies. The amount includes a principal amount of ₹66.35 crores and an interest of ₹62.34 crores. SEBI had received a total of 19,616 applications as of March 31, 2021. Out of which, the amount has been refunded to 16,909 applicants while other applicants have been asked to address discrepancies.

SEBI refunded money to the investors after 9 years from the date it was assigned the task by the Supreme Court of India. The balance of ₹23,000 crore is still due to be refunded.

:::K Natarajan, the Director-General of Coast Guard, was elected as the Executive Director of the Regional Corporation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP). He defeated the representative from China by a margin of 10 votes. K Natarajan received 14 out of 21 votes while the representative from China received 4 out of 21 votes.

ReCAAP is a regional Government-to-Government agreement that promotes and enhances cooperation against piracy & armed robbery of ships in Asia.
