The new feature to direct the users to an eco-friendly route comes as a response to the commitment to reduce carbon footprint. Google Maps' new feature accesses the algorithms designed by Google to recommend fuel-efficient routes.

An official spokesperson from Google said that the new feature can prevent the emission of more than one million tons of carbon every year. It has been rolled out in the American market. Google is expected to launch the new eco-friendly route feature in the markets of Europe and other countries in 2022. The launch will be for both the major mobile operating systems namely Android and iOS.

Google Maps has also launched a new navigation feature for cycle enthusiasts. The feature would recommend different routes to a cyclist, showing the fastest route to compare it with the Estimated Time of Arrival. This same portion will be available in the eco-friendly feature as well.

It will cost ₹129/- per month. Amazon had removed the option to subscribe to Amazon Prime on a monthly basis following the RBI's direction to implement AFA. The Reserve Bank of India previously issued an order, directing the banks to implement the Additional Factor of Authentication to process recurring online transactions. Amazon now offers three subscription options for Amazon Prime. These are:

  1. Yearly The yearly subscription will cost ₹999/-. The amount applies to all the payment methods.

  2. Three Months The original value of this subscription plan is ₹387/-; however, it is currently being offered for ₹329/-. The discounted price applies to all electronic payment methods.

  3. Monthly The monthly plan costs ₹129/-. The monthly subscription facility can be availed only through select debit and credit cards of the banks that have complied with the RBI's guidelines related to AFA.

The option to sign-up for a free trial was discontinued by Amazon for the same reasons. This is still applicable and is expected to remain in effect until further notice.

The feature to tune a guitar is now live on Google Search. It is called Instrument Tuner. The feature is now live in India. It can be accessed by typing Google Tuner in the search bar of Google. You may need to update your browser in case you are unable to access the feature.

Instrument Tuner hears the note and recommends the best setting to play that note. The final output depends on the quality of the microphone that you use while accessing the feature on Google. You may also need to permit Google to access the microphone of your device.

The feature was first spotted by Android Police. The website reported that the feature was launched on October 07, 2021.

That is all for this week.
