The AI model can reason through its thoughts before responding.
Attempting to play chess with Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (Experimental) didn’t specifically turn out the way it was supposed to. But, it did give out a pizza recipe. What is known for now is that any update or development that Google rolls out to its AI/LLM model has to at least beat that for a user to play chess when they are home alone. Meaning, Google has to work hard to meet such demands of its users so that AI is completely integrated into everyday lives. Google Gemini 2.5 may or may not be that answer - it has been introduced nonetheless.

Google Gemini 2.5 is defined as the most intelligent AI model of the tech giant in the official blog post. A 3-minute read published by Koray Kavukcuoglu, the CTO of Google DeepMind, details the model while this article intends to briefly highlight key points from the note.
Google Gemini 2.5, Way Forward
Google Gemini 2.5 is currently available in Google AI Studio and Gemini Advanced for developers and users to give it an initial kick. The model will improve based on feedback and usage. However, even the starting point of Gemini 2.5 has bagged one notable recognition. It has topped the LMArena leaderboard by beating the likes of Grok-3, GPT-4.5, and DeepSeek-R1.

Taking it from a standalone perspective rather gives more clarity about why it scored 1443 arena points. The experimental version of 2.5 Pro builds on the crucial elements that essentially humanize its responses. These pertain to reasoning with thoughts before responding where reasoning is an umbrella to collectively inculcate information analysis, drawing logical conclusions, and incorporating context with nuance for enhanced performance and improved accuracy.
Google Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental has outperformed its rival in every possible category. For instance, it scored 18.8% in Humanity’s Last Exam while OpenAI o3-mini missed the top position with a score of 14%. Rating under GPQA Diamond was 84% while Claude 3.7 Sonnet could beat that score by a margin of 0.8% only after multiple attempts. The single attempt rating stood at 78.2% which is conveniently lower.

All of it goes on to set a benchmark when it comes to leading on common coding, math, and science. Not to forget that Google has its sights specifically set on advancing reasoning and coding capabilities.
