A recent post by Samsung Newsroom highlighted its interaction with Hongpyo Lee from the Visual Technology Team at Samsung Research. The emphasis was on image search and video trimming.
For image search, Lee stated that they worked to improve the previous models to craft the capability of better-recognizing object data. This takes the search function a step ahead from just recognizing facial features. Samsung users who want to find their images can do so simply by searching with objects, people, and localities in the content. Galaxy S25 Series will browse the large collection of images and present the desired image right in front of them.

Samsung Gallery is now loaded with an expanded list of tags and categories on top of fine-tuning photo subject recognition. Phrases or sentences that users type as a prompt can be in a natural language. Generative AI has generated a wide range of sentences that users can think of. Inho Choi from the Visual Solution Team of Samsung Electronics’ MX Business has credited the application of natural language processing capabilities to their products for this achievement.
Video Trimming in Samsung Galaxy S25 Series with Galaxy AI
It could be tricky for a machine to match the level of sensitivity that humans have. Galaxy AI, as per the post, has reached that level of precision. It can identify and trim key moments for users automatically for videos that are up to 90 minutes long. The speed to process, or rather generate, edited videos may differ but the feature is indeed noteworthy.
What makes it more interesting is the fact that Galaxy AI can auto-trim multiple videos on Samsung Galaxy S25 Series devices. Seonghwan Kim from the MX Business Visual Solution Team stated that they optimized the current model which had its limitations like slow processing speeds and introduced features to identify key moments from videos. Wonwoo Lee from Samsung Research’s Visual Technology Team acknowledged that it was a challenging task for the team to match the level of sensitivity that humans have.

The team of developers at Samsung Electronics is now working to strengthen its AI capabilities. One of the ideas teased in the post relates to multimodal interaction technologies used in AR and VR, where AR is an acronym for Augmented Reality and VR for Virtual Reality. Developers will continue to improve their photo and video capabilities as well.
