Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, last saw store openings in the country in 2023 and was impressed by the response. In fact, Apple even reported positive sales for iPhone mobiles since the establishment of its physical store in the country. Therefore, it was only the right thing to take a call on its expansion with time.
According to a report by Times of India, Apple has posted as many as 20 open positions across four different locations. These are Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai. The American tech giant wants everyone to apply no matter the kind of experience they have. Candidates with prior experience to the relevant job position can apply and so can those who are looking to start afresh.
The hiring initiative was announced by Apple Store Leader, John Taffe, on LinkedIn. John, in a LinkedIn post & according to the same report by TOI, said that the growth comes after recording an incredible journey in the country.
New Apple stores are possibly a result of Tim’s plan for retail expansion. Apple already has two stores - Apple BKC (Mumbai) & Apple Saket (Delhi) - and saw positive numbers for Q1-25. Deirdre O’Brien, the Senior VP of Retail at Apple, has hailed the move by saying that Apple stores are incredible places for anyone wanting to experience the magic of Apple.
Apple’s expansion in the Indian retail market is a positive sign for Indians looking for jobs. This comes at a time when Tesla is actively recruiting for its showrooms with operations likely to commence in the coming months of 2025. Also, it signals a rise in competition where players like Croma and Reliance Digital have a broader footprint.
